Cooking and serving dishes is the easiest way to make Restaurant City coins, but it also is one of the easiest ways to get things wrong. So, here are a few quick tips to make your job easier. First off, make sure to work on leveling up at least one of each dish to Level 10 as soon as possible. High level dishes will instantly make more coins than anything low level. You will also make more GP this way which means a bigger restaurant and more space to serve customers, which means more coins – do you see the pattern?
Additionally, make sure your setup is such that you can cater to anyone that enters your restaurant as they enter. You will want to be sure that you can serve people as they come in, and not lose customers to the fact that your service is slow. Set up a maze at the entrance, have waiting chairs and arcade machines and most of all, be sure to have a good number of chefs for your tables. 
Other Ways to Make Restaurant City Coins
While cooking is the best way, there are other ways to make coins in the game. Simple ways like collecting trash from other people’s restaurants are boring but can be easy coins, and if your restaurant is running on its own, you may as well go for a jaunt and start cleaning. You can also shake out the trees near your restaurant for coins – you won’t get much but it’s an easy task while waiting for things to happen. 
You can also buy Restaurant City coins, but it is recommended that you avoid doing this. They cost a decent amount of money and you can always get them without spending any cash (plus where’s the challenge if you spend cash on them instead of actually leveling up on your own.

Like any good game, Restaurant City has its own way of measuring your progress and allowing you to level up. When you hit the top level, you’ll find that there are dozens of different ways to become a top player, but you need to level up first and that means loading up on Restaurant City GP, leveling currency in this game. Here are some quick tips to help you get the necessary GP you need to reach Level 27 and top out your restaurant size. 
How You Get Restaurant City GP 
To start with, you will need to find a good route to the top level dishes in the game. This means loading up on the right ingredients for your character. Instead of going out and trying to get all the ingredients for everything to reach Level 10, instead focus on three dishes – one for each category of Starter, Main and Dessert. When you have all of them and have achieved a Level 10 dish for all three categories, you will be able to offer an all Level 10 menu, which will result in a much higher rate of gain for your Restaurant City GP.
Choosing the right dishes to level is equally important. Try to find good dishes that have not too rare of ingredients. Anything with tomatoes or rare vegetables or high level ingredients are going to be tough, while other more common ingredients are best to aim for because of their relatively simple availability. 
More Customers Equal More GP
Every dish you serve rewards you with more Restaurant City GP. If you cannot get the right amount of customers into your restaurant, you are going to miss out on the opportunity to get as many GP as possible. By the time you reach Level 17, make sure you have all 8 employees on the floor and have 3 tables for every chef (up to 15 if you don’t have toilets yet).This will allow you to rotate in and out up to 30 customers a minute – a nice rate for racking up those GP and getting to the next level.
Be Realistic 
Restaurant City is not made to allow you to reach Level 27 overnight. Don’t expect miracles just because you’re doing everything right. Spend some time playing every day though and before you know it, you’ll be at the top level with one heck of a nice looking restaurant to show off on Random Street and hopefully one day Gourmet Street.

Part of operating your Restaurant City profile is to make sure you have a good collection of employees on staff who can run the restaurant and keep from providing too slow of service. No two employees are very different from one another – most of their productivity comes from how you position them, but if you want your Restaurant City employees to be effective at what they do, you need to be sure you do a few particular things right beforehand. 
How to Hire People
To hire new Restaurant City employees you simply need to have enough friends on your Facebook account to add them from. This is relatively easy to do and requires minimal additional work on your part. However, you will find that it can take a great deal of additional time to go about finding the right people who are actually going to be online when you are and can help you gather your ingredients. That’s not a requisite of a good employee, but it sure can help. 
Keeping Them Happy
Next on the list for your employees is to make sure that you keep them all happy. Rather than spending entirely too much time worrying about how to set up your account, you should first spend a bit of time practicing how often and in what intervals to feed or rest your Restaurant City employees. This is a vital part of the process, especially if you are serious about being a good player in a game like this. Your employees need to have energy ratings at or above 75% if they are going to be productive enough to maintain your rate of GP and coin making. 
Where to Put Them
The final thing to consider is where you will put your Restaurant City employees when you set up your restaurant. They need to be placed carefully into the space that you have offered for them – which means you need to set up a solid, well built area in which chefs are near the tables and the waiters don’t need to walk a country mile to get to their tables. That is a tough thing sometimes, but if you play it right, you can make it happen without losing any productivity.
In the end, your restaurant is only partially about the Restaurant City employees on your staff. That said though, if you ignore those employees, you’re going to have a heck of a lot of trouble running that restaurant of yours.

When you start creating your restaurant for Restaurant City, one of the first things you need to do is decide what you are going to do about your layout. At first, with only 1 chef and 3 tables, it doesn’t matter all that much, but once you have at least two chefs or 5+ tables, you need to start thinking about how to establish your building layout so that you can maximize efficiency and how much coin and GP you will make for the time spent online. 
What is an Island Layout?
The phrase you will hear most often associated with your layout is “island layout”. This phrase refers to a self contained grouping of tables and stoves where waiters have to move as little as possible and your characters all rotate in the right amount of space. 
There are a few things a good island layout should do. It should make it so your chefs are right beside the tables they are serving, minimizing movement of your servers. They should also remain a good distance from the doors so that new customers have to travel to the table a good distance, giving servers more time to clear tables and prepare for new customers. Finally, you also want them to look good. A messy, poorly laid out island will not get you those all important ratings you’re hoping for from your fellow players. 
How to Make a Good Island Layout
So, with that in mind, how do you put your island layout together so that you can maintain the most effective and well designed style of restaurant? That’s a tough question and one that every player has a different answer to. But, for those that are interested in putting together a good set of tables that look good and work well with your employees, aim for a small lateral design. Minimize diagonal lines for your servers as they travel slower over these. Put the stoves in between tables and make space for characters to move quickly between tables as much as possible.
If you set up a good island layout and use it effectively to maintain the speed of service between your chefs and your waiters, your restaurant will be that much more effective and grow larger before you know it.

There are a lot of Restaurant City ingredients to keep track of in a game as massive and enveloping as this. However, the real key is not figuring out what all the ingredients are – but to find out which ones you need the most of and how to get them as quickly as possible. Because your goal is to get three good recipes – one from each of the three different categories – to Level 10 as fast as possible, you will need to spend some time developing a strategy that works well to do that.
Knowing Which Ingredients to Gather
There are a lot of ingredients to choose from. You may decide you’d like to gather only a select few for your most popular dishes, but even then, you will need a lot of them. In total, you will need over 2,000 ingredients to get every dish to Level 10, and that’s just the start. New dishes are being added to the game all the time and all require their own sets of ingredients. Over time, you’ll need to focus more intently on how to get those ingredients and grow your restaurant’s rapport to have a bigger menu. 
How to Get Your Ingredients
When the game first starts, you can get Restaurant City ingredients through one of a few different methods. You can get the daily ingredient by logging in at least once every 24 hours. You can also get another free ingredient by completing the Daily Quiz. You can also get an ingredient for visiting each of your friends for the first time. Finally, you can buy your ingredients or trade for them.
It is recommended that you do not buy your ingredients as you will quickly run out of coins doing this. However, you can quickly get enough of the necessary ingredients for your account if you trade for them. 
How to Trade Ingredients
Trading for ingredients is a bit tougher than many would expect though. It takes a lot of time and quite a bit of energy to put together the necessary strategy needed to gather friends for trading. The goal should be to find special friends who are also Restaurant City ingredients collectors and can help you gather more of them for your purposes. If you can do that, you will be much better off than if you simply tried to find people at random to trade with. 
If you play it right, finding the right Restaurant City ingredients doesn’t need to be as trying and time consuming of a process as you may be assuming it will. That said, you will need to pay close attention and log on each day if you are serious about getting those ingredients, so prepare to spend a lot of time playing this game.

What they do do however is provide you with a method to level them up. When you get your dishes all the way to the top, you will be able to make more coins and GP for every customer you serve. As a result, getting level 10 dishes should be one of your primary objectives well before you start playing Restaurant City seriously. 
How Many Dishes Are There
Currently, there are 53 standard dishes and a handful of drinks that can become level 10 dishes. Once your dishes reach that magical number, you can start developing a more streamlined process to get the coins and GP you need to reach the top level and start outfitting your restaurant in the ways you always dreamed of. But, before you can do that, you need to start gathering some ingredients.
How to Get Your Ingredients
If you’re interested in loading up on level 10 dishes, you are going to need a LOT of ingredients. There are currently more than 2000 ingredients needed to reach Level 10 with every dish on your menu. That is a lot of collecting and if you just went about it on a daily basis, it would take you nearly 3 years to complete. Luckily, you have other ways to collect ingredients without spending the next third of a decade on this game.
How do you go about that, you ask? To start with, you need to decide which level 10 dishes you would like to focus on first. If you get three solid level 10 dishes right off the bat (one from each category), you can make a LOT more GP and coins than you were before, which makes finding new ingredients much easier. 
Additionally, gather as many new friends as possible and visit their restaurants to get the ingredient boosts. Also, trade with them freely to get the ingredients you may not already have for your dishes. You can also start gardening your own ingredients at Level 16, though it costs 2,000 coins to plant each seed, which can add up rather quickly. 
In the end, getting all of your level 10 dishes is a long and arduous process. To seriously accomplish it, you will need to approach it from as many different angles as you can. Do that, and you will be well on your way to the top of the game.

One of the things about a game like Restaurant City is that your success is directly tied into being able to go out and find other people who also play the game to be your friends. If you want to get anywhere at any kind of speed, you need these fellow friends to help you gather ingredients and to grow your business a bit. That means a whole lot of recruiting and time spent looking for temporary RC friends. To make that process go a little smoother, here are some tips to getting temporary RC friends for your account.
How to Track Down the Right Temporary RC Friends
To start with, you need to know that friend spamming on Facebook will just get you banned. If you start friending everyone on the Restaurant City fan list, you’re not going to last long on the site. Rather, you need to go out and actively solicit the people who you are interested in really getting to know. This is a bit tougher. 
The easiest way to start out is to go to the official forums and look for threads of people who are interested in getting new friends. You can then send them requests and get their responses in a few hours most of the time. When you load up on friends in this manner, you can quickly get a good chunk of people together that will let you view and rate their restaurant for your ingredient before deleting each other from your friend lists. 
Posting Your Own Threads
Another way to get good temporary RC friends is to go out and post a spot on a forum for yourself and ask people to send you friend requests. You can then confirm them right away and swap ingredients before moving on and getting back to playing. In either case, you need to go out and actually talk to people. Make sure, when searching for temporary RC friends that you don’t do more than 10-20 a day. If Facebook realizes you are adding and deleting rapidly, it may send up red flags. 
If you can play it properly though, the temporary friend route is a great way to effectively play the game and build up your count of ingredients to get the top level dishes in the game and start leveling much faster than you were before – something that every RC player can get behind.

Restaurant City is a bit different than other social networking games in that it has a built in method of asking for a rating for your Restaurant. This Restaurant City popularity rating allows the game to effectively make you go out and socialize with people, drawing more players in and engaging the player base that many times over. 
However, getting your Restaurant City popularity rating up high enough is a bit hard. And it can be confusing at times because there are two ways to score popularity of your restaurant – both as the in-house popularity given by your customers and the score you get when you put your Restaurant out on Random Street to be rated by your fellow players. 
Getting a Good Popularity Score
Good popularity scores start by offering solid service to your customers. If you don’t offer solid service, you will quickly start to drop off in your Restaurant City popularity rating. This means that you are taking too long to provide the dishes, the restaurant is dirty, or your employees are unhappy and tired. This can be fixed by setting up the right layout, feeding your employees before they get below 75% and by cleaning up regularly or, if you’re not online yourself, by hiring a janitor. 
How to Keep the Rating High
Once you get a high Restaurant City popularity rating you need to keep it up there and that can be tough. The first thing to do is to make sure you don’t leave your restaurant open when you’re offline. This can be hard to remember, but it takes no time to fix. Just remove the door and put your employees to sleep when you log off each day, effectively making it so no new customers can come in and give a bad rating for slow service when those employees get tired. This is also good if you don’t have a janitor and the place becomes dirty.
When your restaurant gets big, make sure to have a janitor in place for the toilets and always have a waiting system in place. Also, create a maze that will make it take longer for people to get to the seats when they arrive –this will help ensure a minimized number of problems with the bad ratings that can sink your restaurant if you are not careful. 
If you play it right, your Restaurant City popularity rating can be maintained at a high, super popular rate, but you must pay close attention and be ready to adjust to any of the many conditions that might pop up in game.

How to Get the Hard Ones
To land the hardest Restaurant City awards, you need to start planning early. This means you need to load up on the necessary tools to get there. To start with, you need a whole lot of friends. Don’t go for your normal friends who may not even log on to the game but once every week or two. Rather, spend a few hours looking for some good RC players who want to hang out with you and share ratings of each others restaurants.
For things like picking up trash, you can just cruise the Random Street and find people’s restaurants that have been abandoned and need a good cleaning. Spending coins will require making coins and you’ll end up needing a solid 700,000 or so total to complete all of the purchasing achievements, which can take a few weeks of feeding your customers – but will ultimately happen seemingly all at once. 
Whatever your goals, getting all of the Restaurant City awards is a serious sign of prowess and talent in the game. If you can become one of the few people who manages to do it, people will definitely notice your accomplishment.

But, here I am, a few weeks later and I log in religiously every day as soon as I get home from work and right before I leave each morning. 
So, when I saw the newest game guide out there – Restaurant City Secrets – I was interested to see what it was all about and whether or not it was as “helpful” as the guide’s writer said it would be. The honest truth is that I didn’t think I would get anything out of it. Luckily, I checked it out anyways, because this guide was everything I was not expecting it to be. 
What does that mean? It means the thing actually helped. In fact, it helped a LOT. I had been having trouble finding new ingredients and choosing my dishes, but this guide told me exactly which ingredients to gather and where to go to load up on temporary friends to get the ingredients I needed. I saved time and in only a week had a pair of Level 10 dishes – talk about high speed GP gathering. 
Anyways, before I get too carried away, the gist is this – Restaurant City Secrets is a pretty awesome guide for anyone that is a fan of Facebook games and RC in particular. If you’re serious about playing well, this thing will help you get there.

Guides for Facebook games come in two flavors - there are the ones completely recycled from forums that have more lists and charts in them of simple, easy to remember information than they do of things that you might actually be interested in. I think I may have stumbled upon one of the latter the other day and because of how few of those guides actually seem to exist these days, I wanted to share my thoughts on it.

I know what you’re thinking – “you’re addicted to restaurant cities?” Yes, yes I am. But, you can’t deny how addictive these kinds of games are. They grab you hard and don’t let go, which is genius if you’re a game designer, but for us players with no idea what we’re doing, it can be a bit frustrating. 
So, a game guide like Restaurant City Secrets was a godsend – the kind of thing I wasn’t even aware existed and when I saw it for the first time, I couldn’t believe was any good. 
But, I was wrong – and thank goodness because this guide is awesome. It does everything I would ask for in a guide like this and then some, providing some of the most interesting and useful tools I’ve ever seen in a game guide before. 
What does that mean? It means that the things you actually need to know – like how to layout your restaurant or which dishes to level up to 10 and how to do it – are actually discussed rather than the meaningless, useless details that the other guides try to ply off on you. 
Rather than trying to throw everything in the kitchen sink at you, this game guide has done a heck of a job providing a LOT of tools to help you play better. If you have a chance and are an RC fan, I whole heartedly suggest you check it out.

Yeah, you read the title properly – I am playing Restaurant City (or RC as we like to call it) and I’m getting quite addicted at that. And why not – it’s one of those games that grabs your attention whether you’re online or not and that you can let run in the background while you do all sorts of other things. My favorite kind of game in all honestly. 
But, here’s the thing – I wasn’t very good at the game itself. RC isn’t exactly old school Donkey Kong, but it can be tough if you don’t know what you are doing and as a result, I have absolutely no idea what I am doing and do not play it all that well.
So, when I saw Restaurant City Secrets on a blog the other day, I jumped at it. I didn’t care if it worked – I just wanted to see what a pro in the game had to say about it. How were they playing and what were they doing so much better than me. Turns out, just about everything I do could have been done better.
Fast Forward a Bit
I used the Restaurant City Secrets guide for a few days and it turns out that I do not in fact suck at this game – I just had no idea what I was doing. That’s not so shocking, but what is shocking is that I managed to remedy the situation in a little under a week without having to resort to anything other than a few simple tweaks to my gameplay.
I learned how to set up the restaurant, how to get more ingredients and how to level up the right dishes instead of wasting too much time on ones that dive bombed upon initial leveling. I wasn’t wasting coins and I wasn’t tempted any longer to spend my hard earned cash on Playfish Dollars.
In short, if you play Restaurant City, this is a guide that you should whole heartedly check out – I’m serious, I didn’t think I’d ever be this good at any game online but now I’m a pro and people are bugging me for advice. Which is pretty awesome.

Ever since it was first launched a few weeks ago, I had been meaning to get my hands on the new Restaurant City guide and check out if the thing actually did all the fancy stuff that it claimed to. I’m no five star gourmet, but I do alright in the game and I figured that if I could learn a few things from this guide, it was worth checking out. 
It turns out I had more than just a few things to learn from this guide – I was woefully ignorant of just about every important thing you should be doing to succeed in this game – which is quite a bit. 
After spending a couple of days with the game, I learned that I was already making huge mistakes without spending any time to fix them. I was playing with low level dishes (instead of leveling 3 of them up before the rest to Level 10). I was playing with only a small handful of friends who rarely logged on and who didn’t like to trade ingredients. I was spending hours a day with the game off and the doors open, dropping my popularity score. In short, I was doing an awful job and barely had a clue.
So, I changed everything. I picked three good dishes and got them to Level 10, then upgraded my layout to be more efficient. I traded for the top ingredients, setup my garden and went out to find new friends. The guide helped me do all of these things and now, only a couple of weeks later, I’m WELL on my way to being at the top level and having a perfect popularity score. 
I didn’t actually think I could entertain the idea of being one of those top tier gourmets – but not that I’m only a few steps away from being one, I can’t stop playing.

With a few weeks under my belt now in checking out the biggest restaurant simulator on Facebook (sounds silly right, but there are like 5 of them now), I can safely say that I’m doing okay. But, I wanted to check in with my fellow RC players and see how everyone else out there is doing. In my opinion, this game is incredibly easy to get started in, but as soon as you scrape a layer or two away from the top, you start to see that things are a bit tougher to master. 
That’s not to say that you can’t be one of the better players in this game – but it takes a LONG time to get there if you don’t have an aid in hand. 
So, along with asking how you are all doing, I wanted to introduce a guide that I’ve been using for the past few days to make my gameplay a little better. I’ve been spending a lot of time reading it of late and I have to say that it’s changed a lot about how I approach this (and a lot of other) Facebook game(s). 
It’s called Restaurant City Secrets and it’s written in a way that shows you exactly what you’re doing wrong and how to fix those errors. From top to bottom, the guide is written in a way that makes it evident that the way the game starts out isn’t going to work. You need to go out and get a little sneaky. 
You have to find new friends, trade ingredients constantly and get used to the idea of goofy layouts with strange items on your floor. If you can master that simple set of steps though (which are laid out in detail), you’ll be well on your way to a MUCH better layout and restaurant setup – which ultimately results in better performance and more coins – the stuff that your success will be made of.
Anyways – Restaurant Secrets is one of the better guides I’ve seen in a while. Spend some time – check it out and make sure you pay close attention. The guide can help change your gameplay style for good.
